Torrington adds receiving stations

Torrington – The owner of Torrington Livestock says two new receiving stations – one in Laramie and another in Lyman – will help save producers money.
    “We’re opening a receiving station in Laramie next week,” Lex Madden told the Roundup on June 17. “We’ll pick up cattle at the Albany County fairgrounds between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Thursdays or by appointment.”
    Producers interested in taking advantage of the new service can contact Jeff Ward by calling 307-399-9863 or 307-745-5012. Producers planning to utilize the new service need to give notification by Wednesday evenings.
    “We’re also set up at Lyman with the Maxfield Ranch,” says Madden. Ranchers looking to drop cattle off for delivery to Torrington should contact Rick or Kevin Maxfield at 307-780-6779 or 307-780-7674 for delivery and pickup times.
    “We want to better serve our customers,” says Madden of the new service. “With the high price of gas, diesel and freight, smaller consignors can split the trucking.” He says they’ll pro-rate the freight among those utilizing the trucking service on any given week. “We think it creates a good service to our customers. They get to come to a sale barn that has a good reputation, a large volume of buyers and receive a fair market value for their cattle.”
