Camino to serve on ALB

On Jan. 29, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the appointment of five members to serve three-year terms on the American Lamb Board (ALB). Among the new board members is Peter John Camino, a lamb feeder and producer from Buffalo.

Camino is a third-generation sheep producer and former president of the Wyoming Wool Growers Association. He’s also provided information and guidance to the University of Wyoming’s Sheep Program. Camino has served on the Johnson County Fire District board, as a member of the Knights of Columbus and has lent his experience for many years to the young sheep producers in the Johnson County 4-H.

U.S. Sens. Mike Enzi and John Barrasso and Rep. Liz Cheney (all R-Wyo.) congratulated Camino on his appointment. 

  “As a third-generation rancher, Peter John has been a tireless advocate and a respected leader for the sheep industry in Wyoming,” said Enzi. “With his extensive knowledge and experience in the industry, I am confident he will be a valuable asset to the board and USDA.”

  “We are so proud to have Peter John Camino appointed to represent Wyoming on the American Lamb Board,” added Barrasso. “Peter John has been a great voice for the industry across the state. As a third-generation sheep producer, Peter John’s knowledge, dedication and experience will serve him well in this new role.” 

  Cheney commented, “Mr. Camino will be a great addition to the board, and I’m proud to have him representing Wyoming and our region. I’m confident he will bring real on the ground experience and knowledge to the job.”

Sally Scholle of Littlestown, Pa., David Quam of San Angelo, Texas, Elizabeth Dressler of Parker, Colo. and Greg Deakin of Cuba, Ill. were also appointed to serve on the board.
