Convention season begins
In addition to the usual, seasonal work, fall and winter also bring a multitude of conventions hosted by several state and national associations. While things may look a little different this year due to the worldwide pandemic, many individuals and entities are still choosing to get together for their annual meetings and conventions.
Fall conventions
The Wyoming Water Association (WWA) will kick off the season with their annual meeting and educational seminar held Oct. 20, 22, 27 and 29. This year the event will be virtual, and each day will have a specific theme.
On Oct. 20, WWA will discuss risk mitigation. On Oct. 22, the seminar will look at resiliency in the workforce. On Oct. 27, WWA will address funding readiness, and on Oct. 29, the association will hold their annual meeting. On Nov. 3-4, the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council will host their 2020 Virtual Fall Conference via Zoom. The conference will be a series of virtual educational sessions and business meetings. Session topics include the Governor’s Invasive Species Initiative and updates from the University of Wyoming and other federal and state agencies. During the following week, Wyoming Women in Ag will host their 27th Annual Wyoming Women’s Ag Symposium Nov. 12-13 at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Casper. A schedule and tickets for the event will be available in coming weeks. For more information, visit wywomeninag.org.
Casper will also host the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation’s (WyFB) 101st Annual Meeting Nov. 12-14 at the Clarion Inn at Platte River. WyFB’s annual meeting will take place Nov. 12. On Nov. 13, attendees will hear reports from WyFB’s executive vice president as well as the CEO of Mountain West Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
Resolutions, elections and a WyFB Young Farmers and Ranchers report will conclude the event on Nov. 14. For more information on WyFB’s meeting, visit wyfb.org.
The Wyoming Association of Conservation Districts will host an in-person convention as well. Their 75thannual convention will be held at the Goshen County Rendezvous Center in Torrington Nov. 16-18. For more information on the event, visit conservewy.com.
On Nov. 19-21, the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will host their 2020 Hybrid Convention in Greeley, Colo. The event will also take place online. For more information, visit rmfu.org.
Winter conventions
Statewide conventions will continue rolling into the month of December.
At the beginning of the month, the Wyoming Society for Range Management will host their annual meeting virtually on Dec. 3-5. Event details will be released in coming weeks. Visit wyomingrangelands.org for more information.
On Dec. 7-9, the Wyoming Stock Growers Association will hold their 2020 Winter Roundup Convention and Trade Show at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Casper. Event details will be released in coming months. Visit wysga.org for more information.
2021 conventions
At the start of the new year, many national organizations will begin hosting their annual events.
On Feb. 3-5, the Cattle Industry Convention and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Trade Show will take place at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. More information on the event can be found at convention.ncba.org.
The National Society for Range Management will also host their convention during the month of February. The virtual conference, themed “New Frontiers,” will be held Feb. 15-18. Visit rangelands.org for more information.
Additionally, the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 2021 FUSION Conference is scheduled for March 12-15 in Portland, Ore. For more information on the event, visit fb.org.
