Champions are Made at the Wyoming State Fair
As we sign off another successful Wyoming fair season, I want to take a moment to congratulate all of the champions.
I sincerely believe champions are made at the Wyoming State Fair. Yes, of course, we can take this at face value, as hard-working exhibitors pack up their banners and buckles. However, I am referencing the champions made through their involvement and participation with the fair who are not always recognized.
While cleaning up the fairgrounds following the close of the 110th Wyoming State Fair, it is a bittersweet feeling. There is so much work that goes into the annual production of the state fair; it truly takes a village of folks working diligently behind the curtain in order to produce this annual celebration of our great state.
The word “champion” is so often related to competitiveness, and don’t get me wrong, I am very competitive, but there is so much more involved with the state fair than winning or losing. The friendships, memories, comradery and lessons learned from participating at the Wyoming State Fair will stay with us for a lifetime.
So, I would like to dedicate this article as a thank you to all the folks making the Wyoming State Fair possible; our exhibitors, superintendents, operations team, volunteers, business partners, administrative team, sponsors, contractors, legislators and board members.
They make sacrifices year-round behind the scenes to ensure the success of the annual fair. Thank you for being the champions of the Wyoming State Fair.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the fairgrounds for the 111th Wyoming State Fair. Mark your calendars for Aug. 15-19, 2023!
Courtny Conkle is the Wyoming State Fair general manager.
